Claudette McShane has extensive experience in grant development and administration in both nonprofit organizations and academic settings. She successfully has secured funding from private sources (foundations and corporations), as well as public entities (city, county, state, and federal governments).
Claudette’s expertise in the grants field has led to her being one of the first 200 individuals in the United States to receive the status of Grant Professional Certified from the Grant Professional Certification Institute. This nationally recognized credential validates “proficiency in standards that include tenure in the profession, education, demonstrated achievement, and a commitment to service for public and private philanthropy.”
Additionally, Claudette has a PhD in Social Welfare from Case Western Reserve University’s Mandel School of Applied Social Science and an MSSW from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She was the founding director of Milwaukee’s first shelter for battered women—a position she held for six years—a tenured social work professor for 18 years, and a grant development director in higher education for five years. Claudette has held numerous positions on boards of directors for non-profit organizations. She started her grant consulting business in 2008.
Claudette's personable style and can-do attitude has resulted in grant consulting contracts nationwide. She has helped myriad entities seek funding opportunities including: higher education, K-12, zoos, libraries, museums, state government, child abuse agencies, girls empowerment programs, faith-based services, healthcare, and more.
