Claudette McShane has a PhD from Case Western Reserve University’s Mandel School of Applied Social Science and a MSSW from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. 

She was the founding director of Milwaukee’s first shelter for battered women—a  position she held for six years—a  tenured social work professor for 18 years, and a grant development director in higher education for five years.   She also has provided numerous trainings on grant seeking and writing, has been an external evaluator on federal grants, and has been an expert grant reviewer.
